    Sew Your Own Joggers

Joggers are the new leggings in my opinion. Here's how I style mine as a pretty stylish work at home mom and the pattern so you can make them too!

Being a WAHM means that I’m normally pretty comfortably dressed. For most of us, this means leggings and a tshirt with hair pulled back/up. but after trying out a new pattern by my favorite pattern company, leggings are no longer a staple for me–joggers are!

    Joggers Are Bae

And I mean this in the most serious way. They can be dressed up or down, made with just about any material that has an iota of stretch and worn anywhere. As a plus sized woman, I love how a tunic is no longer necessary for me to feel comfortable! Joggers are literally the most comfortable pants to wear. I’m a work at home mom with minions constantly on me. Not saying that getting dressed isn’t mandatory, but dressing for comfort is certainly a priority!

    What Are Joggers?

It feels like these are some new pants when in reality, they really aren’t. History is once again repeating itself in these trendy yet comfy pants. All they are are some tapered leg jogging pants with some extra style. Do people ACTUALLY jog in them? Sure, some do. Do I? Eh, I’m at a point in my life we’re I’m more of a walker than a jogger–I’m a work in progress! But should I need to break out into a jog, I’m ready when wearing these babies!

    Where To Buy

My favorite and go to pattern for joggers is the Mama Bear Joggers by Patterns for Pirates. I tested this pattern and immediately knew they were a winner. I tried out another pattern that I didn’t quite love because the ankle bands were just too wide and didn’t give the right shape. But the P4P Joggers are perfect and come with 3 ankle finishes and 3 waistband finishes giving me the ability to change my look up as often as I want to!

Summer time is the perfect time to rock a dress! I made these matching dresses for the girls and I just in time to wear for the warm weather.

Summer time is here and we’re ready to celebrate with flowy dresses! One of my favorite things about being able to sew is the ability to make matching outfits. Mini and abc have on their super cute peasant dresses that that match my mommy version of it. Off the shoulder is one of my FAVORITE styles. I always feel so sexy and feminine in them. This dress is so easy to wear and the mini length makes it not look as homely as it could.

    Elephant Harem Pant Romper

A couple weeks ago I decided that I wanted a harem pant romper. Naturally, I scoured the internet first before deciding to consult my ever growing fabric collection for something that I thought would be perfect for the romper. This Elephant knit fabric is sooooooo silky soft that I knew it would be perfect once I touched it.

The romper/jumper is THE perfect outfit since you don’t have to worry about matching tops and bottoms. It’s an all-in-one that offers style and comfort–at least this one does! I’ve paired it with some flat sandals to I could chase the kids around and heels for a more mature look. And it has pockets!!!

I decided to check out Big Cartel for this outfit since I’m still trying to figure out what works best for my items!

I found out yesterday I have a bit of a virus so getting dressed for work today was nothing short of a chore. My friend Jennifer says whenever you feel less than your best, wear red. So I stuffed myself into some red pants (cuffed), pink “booties”, a cute t-shirt and a cardigan.

Please pardon my coffee stains from this morning!

Fashion Fix: Dressing For the Body You Have–Not Want

Silly me. I totally forgot that I’d wanted to include fashion tidbits on my blog!

In my head in this awesome fashionista. I’m stylish enough for my almost 5 year old to respect my outfit decisions for her and compliment my choices but who knows how this translates into the adult world lol!

Whenever I walk outside, I want to look well put together. Whether I’m rocking a business suit, casual, or my workout gear. Ok, maybe not my workout gear. I just can’t justify spending the type of money that allows for color coordination and cutesy looks when I’m going to cover it in sweat anyway. I digress…

In putting together an outfit for yourself, it’s really important to dress for the body that you have–not the one you imagine you have. In my head, I’m this long, lean, pseudo-athletically built woman. And once I lose this happy/baby weight, that’s what I’ll be. But right now, I’m more curvy, thick-waisted and thighed, and I have a bit of a pooch. I’m a work in progress.

With where I am currently, matching my skinny jeans with a fitted top that accentuates my pooch is really not going to lead me down the road of feeling good about myself and changing body. It took some time to realize that my body bouncing back after abc would not be the same as it was with mini. I’m 31 now and things just aren’t the same. So I finally gave in and decided to dress the body that I have now which ultimately meant going up a size or 2 depending on the brand.

Admitting having to go up in my size hurts my ego. Gosh. But what I’m seeing when I look in the mirror is that the size on the tag doesn’t matter as long as I look good in them and I’m working to get where I want to be.

So what am I wearing today?

Today I have on a flowy, secretary blouse that is a sheer, flower print. I have on a purple tank top underneath. I’ve paired this with some stretch boyfriend cut jeans that hit at my ankle. And I’m wearing some cheetah print flats.

I’m wearing very little accessories and makeup since I’m running this afternoon for lunch. I have on my waterproof mascara, a deep burgundy lipstick with a purple-ish gloss on top. And I have on some earrings.

I’m comfy and feel good about what I have on because everything fits!

What tips do you have for fashioning a transitioning body?
