After having two little girls, I was really looking forward to building my baby boy’s wardrobe. People think that little girls have all the fun when it comes to fashion but I’m learning that there are so many cute things for little boys too but most of these are just seen as your basics. Here’s the thing: these basics are the building blocks to any babies wardrobes and are definitely must-haves.
So how do you get started with building your baby boy’s wardrobe? Here are some tips that I’ve found useful:
Choose a color scheme.
This is a tip that I picked up from my friend Katie from Typical Katie. We have sons that are a month apart. She has an older son as well that dresses super cute so she’s got this dressing boy thing down. Something that I didn’t anticipate was liking to put BC in shades of gray, black and navy blues. Not only does this make it easier to match with other things, it also helps with stains.
Don’t be afraid of patterns.
And not the typical boy patterns like cars, trucks and things. Stripes are really popular now and these are a great neutral to have in your baby’s wardrobe. Because they’re so small, going with smaller stripes don’t overpower the clothing. Also, try a pattern in muted colors.
Pick accessories that are as functional as they are cute.
Teething is a necessary evil that brings forth incessant drooling. It’s terrible. I mean, drool is just EVERYWHERE. While bibs do the job of keeping drool off of clothing, they aren’t normally the most fashion forward–until now. Bibs are definitely a necessary accessory and are getting more and more cute!
Finding basics that fall in line with these three tips used to be hard and only available at baby boutiques costing small fortunes but not anymore.
Introducing Carter’s Little Baby Basics
- Their clothes are always age appropriate and on-trend.
- The durability is unmatched.
- The quality of the fabric is incredible.
The Little Baby Basics has everything that you need to build a solid baby boy’s wardrobe. They have:
- The Original Bodysuit in different color sets
- Easy Outfit Sets
- Sleep & Plays
- Little Character Sets
- Little Extras
- Gift Sets
While all of Carter’s clothes are really soft and comfortable feeling, this Little Baby Basics line feels EXTRA soft and snuggly! The teething bib is so soft that it’s not a bother around BC’s neck at all. That and it’s super cute. My husband’s favorites are the sleeveless Original Bodysuits. These are so cute on BC. They show off his mini muscles and make it so he won’t overheat in this hot Georgia summer as well as serve as great undershirts for the fall and winter.
Your turn: What’s basics are a must have for your baby’s wardrobes?
I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com), May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my honest opinion on my blog. The opinions posted are my own.
Fall is FINALLY in the air and I couldn’t be happier. The crisp temperatures mean warmer clothes, hot drinks, and boots! Boot season is my absolute favorite and I may or may not have a bit of a boot addiction. Outside of boots, I’m super excited about warm, fuzzy sweaters that make me feel at home wherever I am.
4 Fall 2017 Fashion Must-Haves
The new trend this year is the floor length duster sweater. These are dramatic additions to your wardrobe that will take your basic to not-so-basic in 2 seconds.
I think colored denim is on trend every season but whereas spring calls for corals and mints, fall warrants something a little different. My favorite fall color is Mustard and in my eyes it functions as an updated neutral color that goes with almost everything.
It’s the small details that have the ability to take something plain to really beautiful. Take a simple sweater and add button detailing. Now it’s something different with style.
Thigh High Boots
These are my favorite and I’m on the hunt for them as we speak given the plush nature of my thighs. But talk about adding some “va-va-voom” to an outfit!!!
Dressing Responsibly With prAna
That sounds like I mean covering yourself up, right? Well that’s not what I mean this time! While I’m all for modesty in fashion, I’m more for fashion that is made with responsible materials. Did you know that fibers from our clothing that get into the water through our washer machines are some of the leading water pollutants? And most of these fibers are made with materials that are harmful to both our environment and the animals in it?
Partnering with prAna was a no brainer for me because of their commitment to making their clothing with sustainable, recycled, fair trade certified and hemp items. Not only does prAna make clothes that don’t harm the planet, but they’re stylish AND comfortable! I received the Kara Jeans in Sepia and the Aya Sweater in Auburn and I’m in love. Both of these pieces are comfortable and make me feel beautiful while I wear them. Oh, and I feel good about not only making wiser choices for the planet but also the community.
prAna makes it a priority to give back to communities all over the world with money from purchases. This makes me feel even better when buying their items because I know that I’m helping someone else out with my fashion addiction. Because I know it’s not just me who loves fashion WHILE making an impact on the environment AND helping other communities, I have a coupon code for you to use while shopping with prAna: MMAAF17 will give you 15% off your purchases.
What are your favorite fall fashion trends?
When Jord Watches approached me about working together to show off their Spring collection for men’s watches, I thought they were listening in to my conversations with my husband. Hubs is a watch lover and we were just talking about how he hadn’t been wearing his watches for whatever reason. When I got the watch in the mail, it was love at first sight for ME! But the hubs loved it so much, it’s him who wrote this post! So without further adieu, welcome my husband to TCM!
Hey all! This is Denvor here–Aaronica’s husband and this is my first post here so please, bear with me!
With a warmer than usual winter wrapping up, I’m betting Spring will be on the warmer than usual side as well so simple and light will be key this year.
Spring Wardrobe Essentials for Men
The essential pieces for this Spring will should start with a good pair of jeans but the key is lighter colors. A worn look or slightly faded will easily pair with a suede boot or moccasin.
It’s still Georgia so weather can be unpredictable so a v-neck is still the best option but a Henley will still round out the outfit.
A Man’s Favorite Accessory
I’ve never been keen on accessories with outfits but watches (and my wedding band) have always been my vice. I’ve recently come across Jord wood watches, and the first thing you notice is detail of the wood. The watch band is typically not the first thing people see when it comes to watches, but the wood grain bands are very well crafted. Don’t get me wrong, the face of the watch is still the most important part of the and whats great is the new spin on the traditional designs. Plus, for those who like a splash of color there are plenty of options, as I like the contrast an ice blue face and with an ebony wood band.
The Jord Watch came in a wooden box (excellent branding!) with all the necessary accessories to keep the watch looking new.
Check out their selection and choose the one that best suits your style to round out your outfit.
Did I mention that we’re doing a giveaway!?!?

Being a WAHM means that I’m normally pretty comfortably dressed. For most of us, this means leggings and a tshirt with hair pulled back/up. but after trying out a new pattern by my favorite pattern company, leggings are no longer a staple for me–joggers are!
Joggers Are Bae
And I mean this in the most serious way. They can be dressed up or down, made with just about any material that has an iota of stretch and worn anywhere. As a plus sized woman, I love how a tunic is no longer necessary for me to feel comfortable! Joggers are literally the most comfortable pants to wear. I’m a work at home mom with minions constantly on me. Not saying that getting dressed isn’t mandatory, but dressing for comfort is certainly a priority!
What Are Joggers?
It feels like these are some new pants when in reality, they really aren’t. History is once again repeating itself in these trendy yet comfy pants. All they are are some tapered leg jogging pants with some extra style. Do people ACTUALLY jog in them? Sure, some do. Do I? Eh, I’m at a point in my life we’re I’m more of a walker than a jogger–I’m a work in progress! But should I need to break out into a jog, I’m ready when wearing these babies!
Where To Buy
My favorite and go to pattern for joggers is the Mama Bear Joggers by Patterns for Pirates. I tested this pattern and immediately knew they were a winner. I tried out another pattern that I didn’t quite love because the ankle bands were just too wide and didn’t give the right shape. But the P4P Joggers are perfect and come with 3 ankle finishes and 3 waistband finishes giving me the ability to change my look up as often as I want to!
Are you a seamstress? What’s your favorite jogger pattern?
Guys, I’m so excited to be participating in my very first sewing blog hop and it’s with 2 of my favorite pattern companies: Made for Mermaids and Patterns for Pirates. I chose to make an outfit (or two) for Thanksgiving. So I’ve announced time after time that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Like Shirley Ceaser said, green beans, potatoes, tomatoes, chicken, lamb, et al. I’m here for all of it. One of the things that I always plan for during Thanksgiving is my tummy getting bigger as a result of all the food I fully indulge in which is why I made the outfit choices I did.
Sew, What Do I Wear For Thanksgiving Dinner?
One of my favorite things to do is create a mashup of some of my favorite patterns. My dinner dress is an off the shoulder pencil dress that I created with the Slim-Fit Raglan and Pirate Pencil Skirt from Patterns for Pirates. I got this fabric in an auction box from my favorite fabric supplier Knitpop. When I got the fabric, I really didn’t think I would ever use it–it look a little granny-ish, right? No shade to the grandma’s but I’ve got quite a few years before I get there! But it’s a stable knit and can hide so many imperfections which made it perfect for this project. It’s stretchy enough to let my stomach expand while not making me look like the Marshmallow Man.
Sew, What Do I Wear For Thanksgiving Dessert?
Holidays mean that there will be multiple adults around who can’t wait to spend time with my girls. And that means that the hubs and I get a much needed date night! So tis the season of the off-the-shoulder tops and dresses and I’ll already be wearing a strapless bra (kids… they never put anything back in place, right?) so why not keep the party going with another off-the-shoulder dress. This one is the Made For Mermaids Mama Daphne dress. I wanted it to be more of a shift dress shape to take attention off my stomach (which will be nice and full) but still cute and sexy. This fabric is from Hancock which is no longer in business. It’s got 20% 4-way stretch which makes it perfect for this project which can be for wovens that have nice drape or knits.
Sew, what do you guys think? What are you wearing for Thanksgiving this year?
